His Presence my secret

Marvellous things happen to me when I experience the tangible presence of Almighty God. And more than anything else, the outcome of an experience with God's tangible presence is an infusion of His grace. That infusion of His grace softens my heart to such a degree that I find myself able to think, speak and do things which I thought I could not do.

Things like loving the "unlovely", forgiving those who just hurt me, having a song in my heart, able to see the positive side of things, being able to bless God inspite of adverse circumstances. And to serve God with a largeness of heart, as well as to serve others. All these things I am able to think, speak and do when I experience a moment of God's presence. I forget to mention that this awesome experience of God's tangible presence also helps me speak the truth without fear and favor, yet graciously. This experience of God's presence makes me a bold witness of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I am able to share the good news of the gospel of the kingdom supernaturally, naturally.

And so how I long to experience His presence daily, even every minute!

In the tangible presence of God, my mind is so very clear. At this moment, it almost seems to be like what the psychology professor, Csíkszentmihályi described as flow which is "being completely involved in an activity for its own sake. The ego falls away. Time flies. Every action, movement, and thought follows inevitably from the previous one, like playing jazz. Your whole being is involved, and you're using your skills to the utmost." And as you could see, this flow pales in such significance compared to the REAL flow of GOD!

This moment of God's tangible presence has an inner and outer dimension. In that, the outer has a touch of God's sovereignty to it. It is God's grace and prerogative to share His tangible presence with a sinner who is most undeserving of a holy God's presence. It has an inner element in that this very same sinner, saved by grace in the finished work of Calvary, has come to a place of "rest", Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

To live in God's tangible presence continuously, wouldn't that be the pearl of great price?!

Truly nothing, not even all the riches available can compare with the tangible presence of Almighty God. This is the yearning of every human heart. And this yearning is so great, this yearning to walk with the Lord GOD in the cool of the day as we were mean't to, can overwhelm an individual in the reverse. Meaning, when we are not yearning for the true goal of our hearts - the presence of the Living GOD - we are automatically, by default, yearning for that which cannot satisfy, and reach for all sorts of counterfeit. And isn't that the sad history of mankind? So poetically captured by Milton in Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained?

He gives grace when we are in a moment of His tangible presence. And nothing at that moment seems difficult.

So the eternal question for us is; how do we learn to live such that we live in His tangible presence continuously, regardless of the circumstances?

Perhaps here's where we can understand why Paul wrote the following verses:

1Th 5:16 Rejoice evermore.
1Th 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
1Th 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1Th 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
1Th 5:20 Despise not prophesyings.
1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And so, this is my quest for evermore: to be a pursuer of God's presence so that He in me would work to fulfil His plans for my generation to His glory!
