What is your justification for life?

The great Genevan reformer of the 16th century, John Calvin, would have finally summarized all his theological thoughts and treatises to this one question, 'So what is your justification in life?' And he fought tooth and nail to show that the one and only justification for life was in Christ Jesus; His identity as the Son of God, only begotten, of the same substance with the Father and the Spirit, indivisible, worthy of all glory and honor, and His completed work of redemption on the cross and His resurrection.

If God in man, the man Christ Jesus, was taking on the sins of the world with all its ramifications and repercussions, then, God was also imputing the very righteousness of His Son, to fallen and depraved human beings, solely by His grace, through faith alone, in His Son alone. And wonder of wonders, every singly blessing accruing to Christ is imputed to us. Salvation is truly unmerited, on the basis of Christ and His completed redemptive work. And when God grants us the great and eternal gift of His Son to us, He gives that gift in and inclusive of the great truth of being united with His Son through the Spirit.

This unsearchable riches of Christ is inexhaustible. It has a width, length, depth and height in the love of Christ which surpasses human and finite knowledge. It is only available in Christ, our great God and Savior. He is ours to enjoy for all eternity. This enjoyment keeps His face ever before us, seeking Him, His kingdom, and all His righteousness. And in so doing, how can we sin? Or how can we who have the seed of God within, and the Holy Spirit of God Himself as our temple, live a lifestyle of sin?

God forbid. No wonder goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our life, and we will dwell in His house forever, even as His cup of choice blessings overflows in our life. He is our choice Blessing, the Pearl of great Price, the Hidden Treasure, the only satisfier of our hearts' craving for meaning, satisfaction, connection, integration and existence.
