More and more I am convinced that the beginning of a believer's walk with God determines his ending. Which means the quality, reality and authenticity of his conversion experience. This essentially and finally and simply means that the believer MUST HAVE a genuine born again experience, as per Jesus' teaching in the gospel of John, chapter 3. And in fact, the clearest evidence of being genuinely born again is also laid out in this same gospel, more than the others, by Jesus spelling out clearly in chapter 14, 15, 16 and 17, about the fruit that genuine conversion experiences produce.
May I say that it is not so much the conversion experience which produces the fruit but the word of Christ, in that Christ Himself must be the anchor, core and essence of the message which a non-believer must hear. Only when Christ is preached, and with the power of the Holy Spirit, conviction takes place for conversion.
When God, in His sovereign grace touches a heart like this, can the believer be assured that 'He who had begun a good work in him, will bring it to completion in the day of Christ'.
