The bane and curse of the church or the congregation of God has always been the unregenerate among the regenerate. The 'tares' sowed with wheat. And amazingly, the evangelical church over the generations, have unwittingly added and multiplied this problem. In our zeal to get as many people as possible to be 'saved' and saying the 'sinner's prayer', the church has received into its number people who are not regenerate. And the church continues to wonder why commitment is so lacking among its ranks.
