So how do we preach the Gospel 52 weeks in a year?

The topic for this blog was inspired by a question posed by a dear friend very recently. So how do we preach the Gospel 52 weeks in a year, Sunday after Sunday?

What brought on that question was my passionate plea to a very small group of pastors, leaders, and preachers about the absolute necessity that we preach the Gospel every Sunday!

My initial response to this question, which by the way, was posed through the email, was that a very strong hint is given by the Lord whilst in His walk with Cleopas and the 'other disciple' (I often wondered why the usually particular writer, Dr Luke, opted not to insert this particular disciple's name in), on the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus, about 7 miles away.

Luke records that in response to the statements of gloom by these 2 disciples, Jesus proceeds to conduct an awesome bible-study with them, and to show them, how from Moses (alluding of course to the Pentateuch, or the Torah), and right through every Old Testament scripture, the whole emphasis had always been on Jesus' suffering, and His glory through the resurrection.

In other words, the OT, and of course now the NT, forms the context from which the precious Gospel of Christ can be preached and taught every day in fact! This is not proof-texting, this is following the model, direction and approach from the Master Himself, the very same One who inspired the Holy Sciptures.
