Will PR take Putrajaya in the next GE?

As much as I would like to believe that PR would take the next General Election ( GE ), the reality proves otherwise. There's just not enough people with higher order thinking skills and possessing strong values of integrity, to put PR into power. There's still too many Malaysians who would rather enjoy short-term materialistic gains than struggle for equity and social justice. Sadly, Malaysians are easily bought, and shameless. The politicians have seen to that. It is often said that we get the government we deserve. March 2008 almost proved otherwise.

PR has to act NOW like the government in waiting. And for that to happen, the rakyat must see a clear Vision and Mission of PR. As well as the tangible outworkings of that Vision and Mission. And LKS and gang really have to get out of the opposition paradigm and start acting like statesmen, that they really are!

So what would I like to see in PR now?

1. A consistent display of Principles before Politicking.
2. A commitment to Shared Values of Malaysians ( The Rukunegara is a good beginning! ) - no need to reinvent the wheel
3. A collaboration with key sectors of the economy for a sustainable growth plan
4. A case for enshrining basic rights of all man
5. A clear move to ensure that power will not rest in one person for more than 2 terms in National Government ( take a leaf out of the American or Filipino system where the President cannot rule for more than 2 terms )

Creativity, Civility and Compassion towards all.

Is this possible in Malaysia? Is this possible with PR? At the present moment, this is very hard to see. The mainstream media still packs a punch with the man and woman on the street. The Judiciary and Enforcement agencies are very much in BN's hands. Yet, if PR holds steadfast to the principles of equity and justice for all, then, I believe Divine Providence will come to their help, and a PR government may still be a reality in the next GE.

May GOD bless Malaysia!
