Just musing ...

I had a fulfilling day facilitating a workshop on 'Skills and Strategies for Influencing People to Achieve Desired Results'. I was humbled by the openness and willingness of the participants - all high ranking government officials and officers from statutory organizations, and a CEO from a for profit organization - to engage in the subject.

This session further emphasized my belief that facilitation is a key skill for trainers. Coupled with this would be appreciative enquiry. These are two very powerful tools to draw out the latent knowledge of most participants, especially when they are from a high-level, with many years of experience.

Once again I made mention of Kegan & Lahey's Immunity to Change ( Harvard, 2009 ), as a key concept when considering organizational transformation.

I am looking forward to working with this group when I take the concluding day tomorrow.
