BUSSSSYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Yup, it is that time of the semester ... when the work seems to pile on, and up, without ceasing! Well actually this week will be a little lighter since it is mid-terms examinations for PSY210 & 302, so I will not have to put in that many hours for class preparation.

At this point, I do want to write about my Leadership & Life Skills 101 classes todate. Every single class since I began teaching this course in May of 2006 has been absolutely a blast! It's been my privilege to have had an input into the lives of so many young people ( and not to mention some not very young people as well! ).

My students in this class always amazes me with their idealism, freshness, and enthusiasm. Of course, I do experience the very small minority who I think should not even have been accepted into this course. These are the students who are really not interested at all. And I wonder why they waste their parents' money, and in the case of overseas students, their government's scarce financial resources.

But as said earlier, it is a very small minority. I've enjoyed the pioneering class with the antics and wit of Kok Hui ( now Student Council President ), the insightful contributions of both Kevin Soo and On-Yeow, the diligent attention of students like Jamie, Deepa, Joycelin Yap and Victoria. And not the mention the ever obliging Leng Jet! These students were then followed by really wonderful students like Tho-Lye Sean, Ameezakamilla, Angelreena, Angeline, Ahmad, Syam, Madeline, Roya, Rowena, Syazniza, Shazlin, Ainul, Joanne, Ting Ting, and the list goes on and on. Last sem I had the joyous pleasure of having Ahmad ( HSEC Prez ), Zul, Alvin, Adran2, Thina, Anand, Joycelyn, Esmeralda, John, Douglas, Johan, and the list went on ( of course, and who would forget the ever resourceful Kai! ).

And this sem, I have the irrespressible Rasyad, the delightful Oga, ever reflective Rachel, the bubbly Grace, the lanky Prince, and bashful Tia!

I have decided that I will always keep LLS 101 as my very special class. These students dont know how they have been an inspiration to me. I enjoy their input ( yes, Jared, and you Cheah too! ), their comments, and their cooperation to come up in front and present extemporaneously.

My challenge is always HOW to EFFECTIVELY ENGAGE EVERY STUDENT?! I dream of an individual course/class student council who's only aim is to make classes so memorable in delivering the content, in a way that can be received by multiple learning styles.

I wish I knew every one of my students enough to help reach them in a way that is best for them. But how does one do that with class sizes of 150, 205 etc, etc?

As midterms come around, here's wishing every one of you taking an exam or two, or three! all the very best! I remain your number one cheerleader! Aim for the stars, and who knows, you may miss, but end on the wings of an eagle ...
