Work does not ever seem to end, does it? And when coupled with a tendency to be perfect in doing the work, the combination easily leads to dis-stress. Oh when will I ever learn to "rest"! Ah, rest! I remember telling myself not too long ago, forget rest. There will be ample time for it when eternity swings in. But it does not seem to work that way. The divine heart of the Father would prefer if we "labor to enter the rest". Such a paradox, and so in keeping with the essence of God invading earth through His Son, and taking upon Himself, frail flesh - the God-Man! How else to explain such paradoxes. The Kingdom of God came "like the sound of a rushing wind", and heaven relativized earth forever. The end result is learning to live with paradox.
So, rest! When you've done whatever you think you could have done, leave it ... take a break. REST! ( Yah, even have a Kit-Kat break, if that appeals to you! )
A moment to thank some special people; heading the list of course is my simply amazing God, also my heavenly papa, protector, supporter, prayer answerer, discipliner, teacher and counselor. Following behind is my super lovely companion of 20 years ( imagine! ), Jessie, then my irrepressible daughters, Carissa ( gives a decidedly new meaning to melancholia ), and Rachel ( gives a decidedly new meaning to sanguineness ). Loads of good friends, far and near ( Larry and Christa in Melbourne, Hi ), Ganesan, Rajan, Guy & Jennifer, good friends in Christian circles, Hera and Kheng Leik, colleague and ex-colleague, and many, many more.
May you find that the secret to life is finding life in Him!
