Vast sections of 'churchianity' - an aberration really - takes off with this leaven of teaching that man's free will is the 'most precious gift of God to mankind'! What this teaching does is to plant the leaven of man's so-called 'free will' as the ultimate decider for a soul to be saved, eternally. Meaning, it is not God, or His Spirit, or His Word (Christ preached) which is the most precious and efficacious gift of God for man's salvation, but the working of natural man's will in 'deciding for Christ', or more popularly still, 'accepting Christ'. In other words, man's independent of God's grace, chooses to believe in God for his eternal salvation. Christ potentially saves the soul, but only actually brings His salvific plan to those who 'receive Him', and that with the individual soul's human willing.
Now with that start point, it becomes a logical, and a natural progression, that this leaven-filled teaching should continue with the supreme idea that we are 'to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling', quite apart from God's grace, which the Scriptures say, began salvation in the first place.
Do you see how easy it is then to move on from this erroneous teaching of man's supreme and individual will deciding matters of salvation, to ensuring that same will will also decide how the individual remains saved, and in fact, can be 'un-saved'?
