Union with Christ

I am thoroughly edified going through Marcus Johnson's book, 'One with Christ', http://www.crossway.org/books/one-with-christ-tpb/

Indeed, Johnson makes a compelling point that Reformed Theology has traditionally and tragically reduced Christ's salvific work to forensic categories merely. Tragic because this unwitting reductionism is a sure-fire way to eventually lead to rigidity and sterility of faith. Johnson shows in his book that union with Christ is vital, and organic. Union with Christ is about being one with the very real and present Christ who died and was resurrected. Johnson is a sharp writer. You can see the sharpness of his writing as he refuses to muddle the work of Christ and the work of the Spirit in sanctification. Jesus is the Sanctifier, and His sanctification is mediated by the Person and Power of the Holy Spirit. Trinitarian theologians would be delighted with his book.

The challenge now is for pastors and preachers to realize and practice preaching Christ in His fullness and in His union with His elect, faithfully, in accordance with the rubric of union with Christ clearly presented in the Scriptures.
