The great Reformer whom God raised in the middle of the past millennium, Martin Luther of Germany, contended that the doctrine of justification is "the article of a standing or falling church" (articulus stantis et cadentis ecclesiae).
His younger contemporary, John Calvin, the equally great Reformer of French descent, called it "the main hinge on which religion turns."
So why is it that you NEVER hear of this "unsearchable riches of Christ" preached frequently in the church? Because it has been buried underneath the contemporary church agenda to 'be relevant'. God did not call us to 'be relevant', He called us into His kingdom! And His kingdom, the kingdom which Christ referred to in His defence before Pilate, is 'not of this world'.
Contemporary pastors and preachers are determined, and even desperate, to make the message of Christ's cross and resurrection, relevant today. And the nett result is a 'fallen' church, which has all but forgotten its Head, and the message of justification which He preached, lived and gave His life for.
