So Datuk Lee lost. It was certainly not for a lack of class and skill. He matched LD all the way. That's just the way a championship final is, a difference of only 2 points separated the gold and silver winner. The 100 meters is even more pronounced. We are talking about the difference of a .100th second! I think the more pertinent question is, Where is the next Datuk Chong Wei? Unfortunately, Malaysian sports remain stuck in the morass of political patronage and interference. We beat the golden goose to death until no more golds ( in this case, silver! ) are produced. Where is the long-term plan to produce champions amongst the ranks of our youngsters who are certainly not lacking in skill and energy? I guess lost to the administrators in charge who can't see the forest for the trees. So soccer remains in languish. Hockey lost its way long ago. Badminton is entering the doldrums until another bright spark lights up. It's a sad state of affairs. The solution? Not easy for one, and highly complex for another. And certainly incapable of being overcome with the likes of the current heads in charge, be they politicians or royalty. So be it. Personal denial is bad enough, social denial is tragic!
