Keeping a Distance ...

I learned something new over the last 2 days. It's about keeping a distance. Perhaps it's also about lengthening the space between stimuli and response. It seems to be connected to what I've been learning for some time now, i.e., that slowing down the mind helps bring much relief. Perhaps this is what led to my "Slow Motion Therapy".

Keeping a distance is about not getting too involved in our thoughts, our emotions, and even our actions. Again, this could be what people refer to when they use the phrase, "take a step back..."

This seems to aid in objectivity of self. When we keep a distance away from our thoughts, emotions and actions, it helps us to see ourselves from different angles, and helps in keeping things in perspective.

One other thing I learned through all this was that I need to say "no", or disagree a lot more often than I do. And I think I need to tell myself no. This has to do with telling myself no to my thoughts, emotions and actions. Part of keeping a distance.
