Realizing Authentic Happiness...

"The greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions, and not on our circumstances. We carry the seeds of the one or the other in our mindswherever we go."- Martha Washington (1731-1802)

"Happiness comes from spiritual wealth, not material wealth... Happiness comes from giving, not getting. If we try hard to bring happiness to others, we cannot stop it from coming to us also. To get joy, we mustgive it, and to keep joy, we must scatter it."- John Templeton (1766-1825)

Tis school holidays and the girls and parents are going to enjoy a time-out tomorrow. I'm really blessed to have a good family. Of course we have our tough times, and which family doesnt? I note though how crucial for the parents to lead. Especially when the tone at home may be a little jarring and discordant at times. That's when parents need to pull up their socks, and firstly, manage their own emotions before they attempt to help their children to manage theirs.

And so children keep us parents on our toes at all times. Sometimes, it does seems that we need to be on our best behavior at all times, because as the saying goes, "values & principles are better caught, than taught!"

So, a week ahead of rest for the girls, and for us parents, we are heading to the South China sea coast fronting pantai Cherating for a few days of being together. A time to recharge, catch up with one another without having to be distracted by work and other responsibilities.
